ABOUT US
P1oneer Racing Team
P1oneer Racing is a F1 in Schools Team founded on the 5th of September, 2022, in Our Lady's Bower Secondary School. Our team consists of six enthusiastic girls who are willing and ready to put in the work and effort it will take to build not only a working race car, but the racing team behind it too. As individuals we each have an interest in engineering or motorsport racing and will use this to our benefit.
MEET THE TEAM
P1oneer Racing's team members consist of Caitlin Dungan (Team & Finance Manager), Ceara Dwyer (Social Media & Marketing Manager), Ciara Hughes (Manufacturing Engineer), Kate Maynard (Design Engineer & Scrutineer), and MaryJo Kavanagh (Graphic Designer & Scrutineer).
Team & Finance Manager
Caitlin Dungan
Caitlin oversees the smooth running of our team by ensuring that we maintain adequate communication as a team. She works closely with all team members to guarantee that all work is being done efficiently. She assigns tasks and makes sure that they are completed and that any deadlines are met. As Finance Manager, she also oversees our budget and expenditure and was responsible for sourcing our uniforms, merchandise and signage for our pit display. She also organised all our sponsorship and collaboration. She worked closely with Kate and Maryjo to ensure they were happy with the final designs for these .
Graphic Designer & Scrutineer
MaryJo Kavanagh
Maryjo's role involves creating visual elements and ensuring that they are professionally displayed. She made sure that our team identity was clear by using our team colours and our logo effectively. This included portfolio design, verbal presentation design and the assembly of our pit display. She worked closely with Kate in all of these areas as both of their roles involve the creative side of this project. Maryjo worked with Kate as a scrutineer to study the regulations and make sure that everything was in order.
Social Media & Marketing Manager
Ceara Dwyer
Ceara is responsible for the promotion of our team. She manages our TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and our website. She ensures that our sponsors are recognised and advertised. She also provides frequent updates of our progress to our followers and allows them to get to know us as people. She worked closely with Caitlin to make sure that all sponsors were getting the correct level of advertisement from our sponsorship tiers.
Manufacturing Engineer
Ciara Hughes
Ciara is responsible for designing our car and used the CAD software to manufacture key components. She studied technical graphics and used these skills to ensure that our car was manufactured as smoothly as possible. Ciara also carried out her own research to ensure that the car she designed is as aerodynamically efficient as possible and in line with all the regulations. She worked with Kate during the initial designing of the car and with Caitlin when she was discussing resources needed for the car.
Design Engineer & Scrutineer
Kate Maynard
Kate's job involved sketching the initial designs of our car and pit display. She studied art for Junior Cert and used these skills to her advantage to ensure that the designs were as detailed as possible. When designing our pit display, she made sure that it met competition regulations and properly displayed our team's dedication and diligence. She also created our team's colour scheme. She worked closely with Maryjo on the portfolios, the verbal presentation and the pit display. Kate worked with Maryjo as a scrutineer to study the regulations and make sure everything was in order.
